Effects of NH4+ and NO3－ fertilizing on forage yield and quality of alfalfa in spring

Effects of NH4+ and NO3－ on forage yield and quality of alfalfa(Medicago sativa) were studied by a pot experiment. The results showed that application of proper nitrogen fertilizer could improve forage yield and quality of alfalfa. At the same nitrogen rate, NH4+ has larger effects on improvement of plant height, leaf area growth and forge yield than NO3－. In a word, reasonable fertilization of NH4+ and NO3－have good effects on improving forage quality of alfalfa.
