Seed characteristics and seedling’s cold tolerance of wild Vicia tenuifolia with different domestication years

Taking Vicia tenuifolia with different domestication years as objects, their seed characteristics and seedlings cold tolerance were analyzed in this study. The results showed that, with the increasing of domestication years, the 1 000 seed-weight and hard seeds rate declined, while seed germination energy, seed germination rate and growth rate of seedling trended to increase. Results of analysis on soluble protein(SP), malondialdehyde(MDA) and water-soluble sugar(WSS) indicated that, cold tolerance of V. tenuifolia seedling decreased with the increasing of domestication years. So domestication can make mutations of V. tenuifolia go along with the direction of what people need. This study can provide scientific foundation for domestication breeding of V.tenuifolia.
