Path of construction of ideological curriculum and politics of forage and turfgrass breeding

  • Course-based ideological and political education to strengthen morality has been very popular in all courses of major universities. It has been reported that a professional course contains up to 47 ideological and political elements. This has led to some issues with scattered contents, lack of top-level design, and incomplete ideological and political systems. In this study, taking forage and turfgrass breeding as an example, the learning situation was analyzed and the course content was reconstructed. ‘Seed industry revitalization’ was determined to be the core of ideological and political education, and the top-level design was structured around the revitalization of the seed industry and related ideological and political elements, such as morality, ambition, talent, and potential were explored in detail to develop the ideological and political content of the course. The results showed that after the integration of above course-based ideological and political education, students had better achievements in professional knowledge and demonstrated better understanding of agriculture, countryside, and farmers, and higher intention of serving in grassland fields. Therefore, this study provides a basis for the path of construction of courses in ideological and political education.
