The stoichiometric characteristics of Xanthium italicum with different invasive degrees in the Yili valley

  • To explore the stoichiometric characteristics of the contents and ratios of C, N, P, and K in the root, leaf, and stem of Xanthium italicum under different invasion levels. The results showed that: 1) The C, N, P, and K stoichiometric ratios of X. italiana were different under different invasion degrees. The higher the invasion intensity, the higher the growth rate of X. italiana. 2) Through the study of the characteristics of stoichiometric changes in different organs of X. italiana under three invasion levels, it was found that the distribution and utilization of chemical elements during the invasion process accelerated the absorption of nutrients and increased the growth rate of X. italiana, thus increasing its competitiveness against local plants and promoting its invasion of local ecosystems. 3) N and P play an important role in the growth and development stage of X. italiana, reflecting the synergism of roots, stems, and leaves in nutrient distribution, utilization, and storage. C, N, P, and K are indispensable elements for the growth and development of plant organs, and the growth and development of various organs are restricted by these elements. This study showed the invasion mechanism, intensity, and harm of X. italiana from the perspective of stoichiometry and provides prevention and ideas for controlling the invasion of this species.
